William Cowper.

William Cowper (1731–1800) was a famous English poet and hymnodist. He is known for his simple, natural style of writing and his deep expression of emotions.

He was born on 26 November 1731 in Berkhamsted, England. Cowper had a difficult life and often suffered from depression, but he found comfort in writing poetry and religion.

He became well known for his poems like “The Task”, “The Diverting History of John Gilpin”, and many hymns. One of his most famous lines is:

“God moves in a mysterious way, His wonders to perform.”

Cowper’s poetry often focuses on nature, everyday life, and human feelings. His writing style is clear, simple, and emotional.

He died on 25 April 1800, but he is still remembered as an important poet in English literature.
