Fable

What is Fable:-

 Fables are fictional short stories.
The characters of the fables are usually animals.
Animals are personified (giving humans quality),
so they talk and act like people.
It ends with a moral. Teaches us a life lesson.

MAIN IDEA:-

The main idea of the poem “Fable” is that everyone has unique talents and abilities. No one is superior or inferior based on size, strength, or appearance. The mountain is large and powerful, while the squirrel is small and agile. Both have their own importance and contribute in different ways. The poem teaches us to respect others, value diversity, and appreciate individual strengths.

Important word meanings:-

Quarrel→ ঝগড়া করা
The former and the latter → দুজনের উল্লেখ থাকলে, প্রথম জনকে former ও দ্বিতীয় জনকে
latter বলে। এখানে former বলতে পর্বত ও latter বলতে কাঠবিড়ালীকে বোঝানো হয়েছে।
Prig → নীতিবাগিস ব্যক্তি, one who puts on an appearance of being morally correct.
Bun → কাঠবিড়ালী, squirrel
Sphere→ এখানে পৃথিবী বোঝানো হয়েছে

Annotations:-

“Talents differ” – means that every individual possesses unique abilities and qualities. The poet suggests that each person has some distinct, natural talent that makes them special. A person who is bigger or stronger is not necessarily more important than someone who is smaller or weaker. Just as the mountain and the squirrel have different roles, every individual contributes in their own way. The world functions smoothly because of the cooperation and coordination between the great and the small. Therefore, everyone deserves respect and appreciation for their unique talents and contributions.
